On the eve of its MAX developer conference Adobe has announced that when the next version of the Flash Player, 10.1, comes out in the first half of next year it will run on smartphones as well as PC and Mac. This is the first time we’ll get the same version of Flash on mobile and PC systems rather than the cut-down Flash Lite, and it’s the first time you’ll be able to download Flash onto your phone yourself rather than having to hope the OS or handset has it bundled. And having Flash on phones is the first step towards having AIR apps running natively on phones.

Spotify has been forced to move back to invite-only mode after the success of its mobile applications. The new programs have only just been released for the iPhone and Android platforms, but it seems the huge demand has seen unprecedented growth for Spotify.

Security experts at the Black Hat conference said Thursday that hackers can break into an iPhone to intercept text messages, deliver spam and deliver malware.
Charlie Miller, Independent Security Evaluators researcher, and Collin Mulliner, a Ph.D. student at the University of Berlin, demonstrated during a Black Hat presentation that hackers can break into an iPhone via the SMS protocol to launch a denial-of-service (DOS) attack or take control of a victim’s phone.
